What are the main use cases for the forecast global radar?
- Get an easy-to-use visualization of the precip forecast for any location, worldwide.
How do you make the forecast global radar?
- We took raw weather data from the ECMWF (European) model and made adjustments to make sure it correctly detailed the precipitation type forecast, while also optimizing the map performance to be able to show the precip forecast over land and oceans.
How often is the forecast global radar updated?
- The forecast global radar is updated every 12 hours with the latest available forecast data.
What resolution is the forecast global radar?
- The forecast global radar is currently available in 25 km (15 mile) resolution.
Are there any limitations to the forecast global radar?
- The forecast global radar is only from one model (ECMWF) and not blended with multiple models like you see elsewhere on OpenSnow. The forecast is also lower resolution so it will not always pick up the nuances of complex, mountain terrain. We recommend double-checking the forecast for any location by tapping the map to view the full forecast details.
