View static and live YouTube streaming webcams in OpenSnow.
The webcams map overlay can be viewed for free on the OpenSnow website. It will be available in the iOS and Android app in future updates, along with the ability to view additional live webcam technologies (not only YouTube).
Getting Started
- Tap the "Maps" tab
- Tap the overlay button.
- Tap "Land Details".
- Select "Webcams".
- Tap "3D" to rotate and tilt the map.
Webcam Map
Static and live YouTube steaming webcams are labeled with highlighted icons:
- Black: Static
- Red: Live
After zooming in on any YouTube webcam (example), tap the red webcam icon to pull up the live steaming view, where you can:
- Go Full Screen
- View Timelapse
- See Nearby Cams
Webcam Status
The health/status of every webcam is highlighted in the upper left corner:
- Green: Good
- Orange: Frequent Outages
- Red: Offline
We will attempt to fix offline webcams as soon as possible and will archive webcams after seven days of continuous offline status.
Webcam Direction
If available, the direction in which the webcam is facing is labeled in the upper right corner with an arrow.
For example, the map in OpenSnow is always defaulted to a north orientation. If the arrow in the webcam is facing down, the webcam is south-facing (opposite of north).
If you decide to tap "3D" and rotate the map, the arrow in the upper right corner will always rotate to show the direction in which the webcam is facing.
Our goal is to become the home for every webcam that is avalable in remote regions around the world. Please send an email to hello@opensnow.com with webcam recommendations, updates, and ways that we could improve the viewing experience.
