Our story is fairly
simple. We wanted to
create the best weather
forecasts for the
mountains,
period.
This began when
Joel Gratz and Andrew
Murray created OpenSnow in 2011 to provide
local commentary and
automated data to skiers
and riders to help them
find the deepest powder.
OpenSnow has now grown to
become the go-to resource
for over 3 million skiers
and riders around the
world.
In 2016, we
launched our summer
service, OpenSummit,
to provide hourly weather
forecasts for hikers,
bikers, and climbers
across the United States.
The forecast data includes hourly precipitation, lightning,
temperature, wind speed
& direction, and cloud
cover for thousands of locations at the elevation
of the
trails.
If you like what we
are doing, please tell a
complete stranger about us
on your next chairlift or
hike. If we can do
something better, please
let us know by sending an
email to hello@opensnow.com
